How to Set Your Home Page in Your Browser

The SCTC IT Department supports three browser, Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox, and Chrome.  The one you use depends your personal preference or software requirements.

How to Set Your Home Page in Internet Explorer

  1. Click on your Internet Explorer icon; you'll find this in your Start menu, or the toolbar at the bottom of your desktop window.

  2. Navigate to the site you'd like as your Home Page, i.e.. http://www.sctech.edu/myportal

  3. Go to toolbar at the top of the browser

    1. click on "Tools",

    2. then click "Internet Options"

  4. At the top of the pop-up, you'll see a "Home Page" box. The address of the site that you are currently at (http://www.sctech.edu/myportal) is there. Press the "Use Current" button to specify this page as your home page.

How to Set your Home Page in Firefox

  1. Click on your Firefox icon; you'll find this in your Start menu, or the toolbar at the bottom of your desktop window.

  2. Navigate to the site you'd like as your Home Page, i.e.. http://www.sctech.edu/myportal

  3. in the top right corner

    1. Click on the three stacked lines to open the menu

    2. Click on Options

  4. Scroll until you see the heading Home page.

  5. Click Use Current Page or type in the address you want to use

  6. There is no save button.  Just click on the X on the settings tab to close and save


 

How to Set Your Home Page in Chrome

  1. Click on your Firefox icon; you'll find this in your Start menu, or the toolbar at the bottom of your desktop window.

  2. Navigate to the site you'd like as your Home Page, i.e. http://www.sctech.edu/myportal

  3. In the top right corner

    1. Click on the three stacked dots to open the menu

    2. Click on Settings

  4. Scroll until you see the heading Show Home Button and click to turn it on

  5. Continue scrolling until you see the heading On Startup

    1. ​Click Open a specific page or set of pages

    2. Select Use Current Pages

    3. If "News Across the Crescent" is the only tab open, then that will be the only page listed.  If more pages show up, click on the stacked three dots and select remove or close the extra tabs in the browser

  6. There is no save button.  Just click on the X on the settings tab to close and save
